BRIEF

A new place was set to open on the main square in Georgia's historic Alpharetta — a coffee shop by day and bar by night. They needed everything from branding to in-store design, to the name itself.

IDEA

Whitman famously said, “Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.”

Giving it the name bar/ista, we positioned the shop as a place to celebrate your multitudes and in-betweens. Start the day with a coffee, and end it with a paloma. Stop in between ‘corporate job’ and ‘family dinner.’ We’re all made of more than one thing.

We reflected that same duplicity in the visual identity, which took inspiration from the anagrams and mirroring of playing cards.
